Creative Spurt

following on from last nights post I've uploaded a few tracks.

Maradolia: Cyclops Goat Nectar is up and ready. I'm not sure whether I love it or really fucking hate it. There's a bunch of overly complicated jazz chords using the key tone theory and what I call intersecting scales where the chords underlying specify not one mode but at least two. The chord progression uses two chords for each mode, the first set of chords underline the dorian/dorian harmonic minor equivalent, the second is the phrygian its equivalent, the third is the aeolian and the harmonic minor.

The guitar tone is pretty fucking shit, I'm gonna really have to experiment with cubase to see if I can get the one I used and gentle sniff back, and start writing down my settings bleeeuurgh.

The intro is intentionally dissonant using and array of overlapping chords, which is meant to hurt your mind before being subjected to some nice melodies (stupid theory I have).

The whole thing is improvised(poorly) in three sections, I don't know if it really works or if it needs to be scrapped but it was definitely an interesting idea, I know I need to work much more on improv of non standard modes.

Banana Split: Banana split is the intro to rape a purple zebra, it gained its name because it sounds like an out of tune ice cream truck. It's an intro to a much larger song which appears as if it has taken me months to complete (hopefully up soon)

HithertoNothing: Stuck a bunch of other Audio Scrap Book tracks up which I like. Space tiger is a doodle about a bad day, for julia is... however you want to interpret it.

Why is it that all the creative ideas come with bad moods? It means that they're not refined and sound maybe a bit out or a little wrong? Is that good? Of course you don't get things perfect the first time or when your in that state of mind. Are they worth refining and tweaking and making more musically pleasing, or are they fine in they're raw imperfect state that really capture an imperfect moment? Hmmm Food for Thought.

One more thing, should I rename the blog aspiring to pretentiousness?

welcome back

Why is it that I can only be creative when I feel melancholic?

melancholy = creativity
